OBJECTIVES
The scope of TRACeR project is to establish molecular subtypes of hepatocellular cacinoma (HCC) triggered by HBV and HCV infection or without viral infection, based on the trasncriptomic profiles obtained by analyzing patient tissue samples and cell lines and to further evaluate the mechanistic responses of the identified subclasses to available drugs or combination of drugs.
We will start the project with a concept formulated by technology (TRL2) and by the end of the project we will achieve a laboratory experimental demonstration concept (TRL3). The anticipated results at the end of the TRACeR project are:
– Comprehensive transcriptomic characterization of HCC
– Subtypes of HCC based on transcriptomic profile
– Profiles of therapy response
By attaining the project aim we will be able to set up a valuable model consisting in sets of genes and underlining pathways that can be further used as biomarkers for patient sub-typing, evaluation of their prognosis, risk to recurrence or response to therapy. Our model will interpret how tumor biology dictate the HCC patients ‘outcome and how the better understanding of molecular underpinnings of tumors and their responses to therapy by patients stratification, can positively impact the management of HCC.
